graphic-crazyCoping with stress is an invaluable skill for any work at home mom. The demands on your time and on you as a person never seem to end and there's always that one last thing that is left to do. How do you cope with the stress of running after kids, doing the laundry, making sure dinner is on the table, helping with homework, all the demands that are made on the time of a mother and still meet deadlines set by your clients? This is a skill that many moms are yet to learn and yet, one they really cannot afford to do without especially when they are work at home moms.

In coping with stress, it is important to learn how to prioritize. You have to realize that there is no how you can continue to meet all the household demands you were meeting before you decided to work at home. There are things that are going to be left undone and you just have to deal with that. The important thing is to make sure that the high priority stuff gets done and those that are important but not necessarily priority can get done sometime later. You will only overstretch yourself and add to your stress levels if you try to do everything at once.

Next you need to learn to get organized. Although there are some women who come with an extra gene for organizational skills, there are more who find the word offensive. If you want to cope with stress as a work at home mom, you cannot afford to be disorganized. You need to have your time in careful slots, and maximize any form of time saving that you can. Have an ongoing grocery list with the prices fixed next to them - dedicate some time to get this done once and for all. Have a menu plan for the week or even the month if you can. Pick a day to make and freeze some meals so that on busy days you have ready meals. Whatever you can do to get even more organized, do it. This will free up some of you time so that you can actually get work done and so you can also have some time for yourself.

Making time for you is an effective way of coping with stress as a work at home mom. Often, most moms neglect themselves and fail to make any personal time. They are so busy meeting the demands of others that the stress keeps mounting and before long, it becomes impossible to cope. Take time out for you. Listen to your favorite music; take a long romantic soak in the bathtub; have lunch with some girlfriends; just take a break from your everyday routine and de-stress.

Coping with stress as a work at home mom is not impossible. You just need to be intentional and deliberate about not letting stress build up. When you learn how to cope with stress, you get to enjoy the fulfillment of staying home with your kids and watching them grow.
